Achieving Focus
"The road to happiness
lies
in two simple principles:
find what it is that interests you and that you can do well,
and when you find it, put your whole soul into it ---
every bit of energy and ambition and natural ability you have."
– John D. Rockefeller III
The most successful
people
focus their energy on doing what they love. They are living
consciously—a buzz word these days that simply means they know what is
meaningful to them, and they focus their time on it.
So today I ask you, what
has meaning for you? Is it your family, your career, being of service,
your health, nature, surfing? Whatever it may be, take 2 minutes and
jot down what is most meaningful to you in your life. When you
are done, number them in the order of their priority, giving #1 to what
has the most meaning in your life.
Now take a look
at
the list. How much of your day, every day, do you spend focusing on
what has the most meaning for you? Successful people devote most of
their time to what has the most meaning for them. If you find that you
could benefit from focusing more time on meaning and less time on
busyness, let go of some of the busyness.
One effective
solution is to hire an assistant for 10 hours a
week at $10 an hour. This will free up time for you
to do what is meaningful. And, if you own your own business,
entrepreneurs who hire assistants usually see an increase in their
revenues, because now they have more time to do things that will
generate sales.
It has been said that
what
you focus on expands. So, what will you focus on today?

Getting in The Zone
Many athletes
refer to being in the zone when they play a sport. The zone is a place
where you are playing at your best, yet you are relaxed, alert and in
the flow. You are present and completely engaged in what you are doing.
Whether you are playing a
competitive sport, working out, or doing business, getting in the zone
catapults you to your success. Following are some guidelines to follow
to get you into the zone. Try it and see the difference.
1. While standing, take a
deep breath in and exhale. Release all tension and stress from your
body, allowing it to fall into the earth like chocolate melting.
2. In Aikido, the center
of the body is called the hara. It is located 2 inches below your
navel. Place your right palm over your hara. All movement originates
from your center.
3. Feel the energy from
the earth come up through your feet into your center then continue
through to the top of your head. Feel the energy permeate every cell
throughout your body, energizing and strengthening you.
4. Set your intention for
what you are about to do. Use the following phrase and fill in the
blank: My intention is _____________________________. For example: My
intention is to write a compelling speech that will motivate my
audience to leadership. I intend to write it in one hour. Another
example is: My intention for this workout is to strengthen my muscles
and burn fat to maintain a strong and healthy body, maintaining my
ideal weight of 125 lbs with 15 % body fat.
5. Now take 30 seconds to
visualize accomplishing your goal. Imagine you are watching a movie
with you as the star. See yourself doing what you are about to do and
succeeding. If you are working out, visualize yourself lifting the
weights, burning calories and fat. Visualize yourself at your ideal
body weight and body fat percentage.
Use this simple and
effective exercise to catapult yourself into the zone and onto success!
